Research Funding Policy
Purpose
PKD-Free Alliance supports scientific and medical research that advances understanding, management, and potential treatment for polycystic kidney disease (PKD). The Alliance seeks to fund innovative research initiatives that align with its mission and overall strategic priorities.
Funding Approach
Research funding from the PKD-Free Alliance is awarded on a discretionary basis. The Alliance identifies and supports research projects that it determines will have meaningful potential to advance PKD science and patient outcomes.
The Alliance does not operate an open application process and does not issue Requests for Applications (RFAs) or Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
Submission Policy
The PKD-Free Alliance does not accept unsolicited proposals or open submissions for research funding.
Investigators may not submit applications independently through an open call process.
Research proposals considered for funding are identified, invited, or developed at the sole discretion of the Alliance.
Award Determination
All research funding decisions are made solely by PKD-Free Alliance. Consideration of a research project may include internal review and consultation with scientific or medical advisors as determined appropriate by the Alliance.
The Alliance reserves the right to:
Select research projects aligned with its priorities
Determine the amount and duration of funding
Decline funding for any proposal at its discretion
Modify or discontinue funding programs at any time
Allowable Costs
Funding provided by the PKD-Free Alliance is intended to directly support research activities associated with the approved project.
No indirect costs are paid on Alliance research awards.
Institutional overhead, facilities and administrative (F&A) costs, or similar indirect expenses are not allowable under PKD-Free Alliance research funding.
Compliance and Reporting
Recipients of funding may be required to:
Execute a research funding agreement
Provide periodic progress reports
Provide a final report summarizing research outcomes
Acknowledge PKD-Free Alliance support in resulting publications or presentations
Additional requirements will be specified in the funding agreement where applicable.
Policy Updates
PKD-Free Alliance reserves the right to update or revise this policy at any time to reflect organizational priorities, governance decisions, or legal requirements.
